IMGSpot.com Huge Free Image Hosting Site, 57,000 uniques a month
www.IMGSpot.com
Stats:
Alexa: 25,603 (Improving all the time)
Unique Monthly Page visitors: 57,000 (Last month)
Images Hosted: 400,000+
Monthly Turnover: $1,700 (Last Month)
Monthly Costs: $1,000 (9 Dedicated ServerMatrix Servers)
Site Details:
IMGSpot takes very little time to maintain, we have a huge customised script (6,000+ Lines) that deals with the backend of things, deleting images, banning users, moderating images, etc etc. We have a lot of very happy users (as seen here).
About 3-4 thousand images a day are uploaded to the servers, current space usage is around 30gb (over 9 x 80gb servers). We're currently using around half the bandwidth capacity of the servers through recent optimisations.
The last few months have resulted in around $700 of profit each, the site could be made significantly more profitable if time were to be invested in careful adjustments to the adsense setup. Also, selling advertising directly (phpAdsNew comes pre-installed and with statistics) or offering paid hosting services (we have a control panel design available if you wish to pursue this) through the site could boost revenue significantly
IMGSpot is one of the most popular free image hosting sites and is most carefully scripted to make huge usage levels very manageable.
Included in the purchase is the following:
- The entire site as you see it, along with all images currently uploaded to the site, and the uploads database.
- The full administration area and scripts
- The PSD for the layout
- Free consultation via email for 30 days after payment on all aspects of the site, should you wish.
- Transfer of the domain to yourself, via 123-Reg
- Transfer of the servers to yourself, should you wish to continue using them and not your own servers
Pricing:
We currently have an offer for $4900 (we will post later offers in this thread)

How much bandwidth does the site currently use per month?
Actually could you provide information on the amount of bandwidth from the last 6 months?

That's quite a tricky question to answer, as our host doesn't give us an overall bandwidth quote, only per server, give me a few minutes and I'll add it all up for you.

Why would you possibly need 9 different dedicated servers for this?

Because it was the cheapest way to acheive the bandwidth needs, and was also a convenient way to spread the huge load.
At the moment we're using about 5400Gb a month (approximately), I'm still adding up the overall stats.

5400GB a month... gosh. I would have thought that costs more than 1 thousand per month to run, although i have not tryed to work it out on paper yet.
Can anyone out there host this less than 1 thousand per month?

As you can see, since the end of August, (so, very beginning of September) we've made great improvements as to the bandwidth usage, this is while we've maintained the same high uniques!
ServerMatrix is a very good and cheap way of hosting this, so I reccomend any buyer keep with them!
EDIT: Don't ask about the server naming system, that's the only thing ServerMatrix aren't very good at

To be exact, for $170/month i could do it with UNMETERED bandwidth... You would have 40gb disk space, unlimited resources.

Wouldnt the load be too much to handle on 1 server alone?

You'd be hard pushed to host it on a single server I think.
Each server has 1024Mb RAM and they make full use of it.
Also, each server can peak at up to 16mbit usage with ease, so you'd need a fairly wide pipe.
I reckon you'd need at least 4gb of ram, and a performance SCSI/SATA RAID array to cope.

I pay some-one I know around $34 a month to moderate the images.
The backend has a very advanced moderation system, for image deletion, user banning, etc etc.
