Curious question for existing web hosts

I have been to several web hosting related forums but have not seen these questions asked. I was just curious.

1)How long after starting your company did you get your first customer?

2)What did you do to get your first customer?

3)If it took you awhile to get your first customer, did you get discouraged and wonder if you made the right choice by getting into the webhosting business?

Just a few questions I was curious about but have not seen asked on any forums.

Initially you can start with some reseller hosting or affiliate programs to get introduced yourself to hosting customers.
Else, if you are an existing web designer or SEO professional you can easily convert your clients into hosting clients.
However, without having any experience or base in hosting industry it is not wise to get into hosting business
