If you were purchasing reseller hosting in order to sell yourself then you should place a lot of time and effort into researching which reseller to use.

The problem with purchasing hosting from somewhere like ebay is that anyone can do it. So it basically gives you no indication of how professional or established a company is.
Many people complain about web hosting companies which advertise on web hosting directories like this one, however it does give you some information about the company.

First of all, if they have the budget to advertise on a directory then they must also have had some level of success to have the funds available to do that.
Second it tells you that they are serious about keeping their business moving.
Most importantly the point that most people forget is that the large hosting companies always have a lot of complains about them - this is due to the fact that a larger customer base brings the likely hood of some unhappy customers.

So atleast this gives you some indication of what kind of companies they are. Next research these companies and try to find out which ones have the most amount of happy clients.

Its not easy, but it is a better system than using ebay.
