Do you prefer VPS or dedicated?

I wonder what is more attractive for you guys VPS or dedicated server? And why? Of course if that is not a top secret.

Taking into consideration my own personal experience I prefer to start from a VPS and than in case of emergency to change it for something bigger like a dedi.
That's why I used to the companies that provide both kinds of services.
Say glowhost.com or asmallorange.com or iwhic.com.

I like VPS more. That appears the same dedicated but more independent.
For that sence I would say that 4java.ca has the best servers and the best approach to the customers
