A2hosting.com or Dreamhost.com?

Hello there!
What do you know or think of these two companies?
I need your suggestion on which one to choose. On the first look A2hosting.com seems not to large as Dreamhost, but looks more attractive and have more featured offers on their packager. But I need stranger's opinion.
Any information are welcome.
Thank you.

It vall depends on your needs and priotities in choosing a hosting plan.
I guess with shared Dreamhost account you cannget lots of disk space and bandwidth. How much does your site really need?
a2hosting.com shared plan looks great in terms of developer features offered PHP, Ruby, Python, Perl, MySQL, PostgeSQL, ROR and a lot of other supported stuff.

I have heard many negative feedbacks about Dreamhost's activity recently. But I think it's quite natural for any company.
As for A2hosting.com it offers feature-rich services for affordable prices. What kind of services do you want to have from them?

I have heard Dreamhost is the greatest overseller in the web hosting market. Though their prices are not high but overselling ... sounds not very good.
A2hosting.com has feature-rich package plans including ROR, MySQL 4.1, 5.0, PHP 5.2, etc.

Well, I've never used any of the hosts you mentioned, so I'll try to compare the basic plans provided by them.

Dreamhost:
500GB disk space
5TB bandwidth
$5.95
support: help desk, dreamhost support wiki
uptime guarantee:failed to find.
set-up fee
Quote:
There is a per-plan one time setup fee of $49.95 for all shared hosting packages, and if the customer wishes to cancel DreamHost shared Web Hosting services within ninety-seven (97) days of the initial signup they shall be able to do so for any reason (aside from disablement for Terms of Service or Spam Policy violations) and have their money promptly refunded.

A2hosting.com offers
10GB disk space
100GB bandwidth
$24.95
support: help desk, tutorials, knowledgebase.
uptime guarantee:99,9%
no set-up fee.

I think while choosing between them take into consideration your site's requirements, do you think you might need 500GB of disk space? If so, go for Dreamhost.com. If you are going to host just one site, then a2hosting.com plan will give you more stability, as I think that an average company can guarantee you more stability in making backups.

Try to check both companies' support response time, it might also help.

shershen, are you still looking for a host?
What type of site are you planning to host? The approximate number of visitors?
Does youк site use php, mysql, ROR? How often you might need support?

To ^Mike^:
are you sure Dreamhost charges a setup fee? Sounds really odd. How much is it for a shared plan? I thought set-up fee is charged only on VPS and dedicated servers where actual setup of applications you might need takes place.

One more point is that there are VPS and semi-dedi plans among a2hosting.com offerings, which makes the procedure of upgrade easier.

Good luck with a2hosting.com, don't forget to post an update about your experience with them.
Do a2hosting.com provide any discounts on dedicated plans?

To the OP, I don't think you will need a dedicated server to host your forum right from the start, semi-dedi or VPS from a2hosting.com will let you cut expenses.
What forum software are you planning to use? Why do you need ROR for it?

Is this coupon code from A2hosting.com valid for a limited period or not?
