Lifetime hosting isn't actually paying for a year, it's rather paying a certain sum and then getting hosting services forever, there are two sides here: a host and a client. And i believe that if so many offer it nowadays it should be really profitable, it may usually be a good startup capital for a host, but it'll work only if he's going to offer other plans along with life-time packages to get steady revenue from.
I personally wouldn't go for such a plan, as I'm not sure whether I'll need hosting for sucha long time and nobody can guarantee the host will last forever.
so, I'd stick to more traditional budget hosting plans, like the one from www.webhostingbuzz.com.
