Strange change in link popularity

Hi guys,
For some of the hosting companies the link popularity has decreased from 800 to 1 and for some it has tremendously increased to 26000 from mere 2000 within a month. Has some one else also noticed this ?

What service / search engine, etc... are you using to get your statistics from?

If it is a search engine they may be updating their back links - it takes time for this to probagate through so many servers before all being updated to the main index.
