It is very rare that you find a web hosting company that mirrors your data accross multiple servers for redundancy purposes in standard configurations. This is because it is wasteful to have a second computer standing by as a hot spare.
In a properly designed cluster, like our NetherMAC system files are stored on redundant fileservers and which server the data over fibrechannel to the webservers. Thus all of the webservers are sharing the load of all of the sites all of the time. There is not a second standby server to takeover when a server fails. Instead the load is balanced among the remaining servers.
This also makes it easier to increase everyone elses speed. In a traditional hosting system a new server would not increase speeds for all exisiting clients. In our system adding one server makes it so each individual server has to do less work. Increasing the speed of the entire system.
I have a feeling with proper marketing our redundant solution could replace the current method of hosting, while providing faster, and more reliable webspace for less.
I may be interested in resellers as partners, so if anyone here is interested in reduced bulk rates now before we make it easier to resell.. don't hesitate to contact me.
