Hi all, so I have been using both IE8 and firefox for the last week and I am getting used to firefox. I have found that there are sites that do not like IE, and there are sites that do not like firefox. My system is probably getting bogged down with software and that might be causing some of the issues also. I will be building a new system in the near future, and I plan on starting slow with the programs that I install, trying firefox on that system for example to see what improvement I see. I am running a cable modem with a router and speed seems to go up and down. Some days the internet flies, while others it crawls.

love the firefox eating IE, Microsoft needs allot of healthy competition

It seems light and fast, but the ads and inability to add on to it make it a no go for me.

Back to Firefox. I'll check it again in 6 months and see if anyone's developed an ad blocker for it.

I normally use IE7.0 or whatever the most advanced version of IE is. But I decided to use Chrome it loads pages much faster especially the graphic images appear sooner. Especially all the IMAGE files when you look up Google Images etc.

i use IE7, Firefox, Opera and Chrome. Many people seem to write as though speed is the only important criterion. To be honest, over the years I've never been impressed by the claims of each browser vendor. Network latency trumps any noticeable differences in speed. It's overall features that is the key. IMO, Chrome has a long way to go to catch Firefox. That's not it's fault but it is a nice alternative for some purposes. I find that there are certain operations for which I switch to one of the above four browsers where none of the others will do. But I expect Firefox to be my default browser for quite some time because it gives me the best user experience overall. Extensions is the killer feature. It's good that Chrome intends to follow suit.

Firefox is far more up to date as far as the standards etc go however IE still has the largest user base. In order to ensure the maximum ease of use etc to your viewer i recommend program the website to look and feel as it should in Firefox and then altering it to work jsut as well with IE. It is far easier to do it this way round than to go from IE to Firefox.

the Firefox advantages are either no big deal or easily worked around. The speed of Chrome (not just browsing speed, but the overall speed of my machine is faster without Firefox using 1/4 of my RAM) is just too big of a win.
