Importance of Meta description tag

Meta Tags are one of the most important thing in Search Engine Optimization /Search Engine Marketing, In that "Meta description tag" is the most important one. The META Description Tag usually consists of 25 to 30 words or less using not more than 160 to 180 characters totally including spaces. The Meta description also shows up in many search engine results as a summary of your site.The META Description Tag is still an important factor in the overall equation of page development. Everything you do to that page will have an influence on something. i.e A description tag must explain the content of the page & what are they working with.

I agree with you. Everyone has to be sure to create and include Meta tags on every page. But it seems to me that the most important are keywords. The article pages of your site must be specified by separate specific keyword or word combination in order to increase access to your website.

Metatags as rule are used to increase keyword density.

I don't know where the idea comes from that the description Meta is the most important Meta tag?

To be honest i would argue that it has always been and always will be the title tag which poses the most weight.

Meta is like the indexing of a book and the way to go these days is to create dynamic Meta throughout all the pages of the website.

The long end of the tail nearly always produces more traffic than the main search terms in a sector.

The meta tags are a very important part of the HTML code of your web page. The title tag and the meta description and keywords tags should include keywords relevant to the content of the web page they describe.

* The title tags should be between 10-60 characters. * The description tag should be less than 200 characters.
* The keyword tags should contain between 4 and 10 keywords.

Every word in this tag should appear somewhere in the body, or you might get penalized for irrelevance. No single word should appear more than twice, or it may be considered spam.

When done right, a Meta Description tag will be used by search engines as the text that sits under the clickable title/text on the search results page, AND the keyword that you targeted for that page will be in the text and bolded.

Even more important, a well-written Meta Description Tag will encourage the searcher to take the next step and visit your Web site. In essence, a well-written Meta Description Tag will increase the Click Through Rate (CTR) of your organic search listing.

A meta description tag is supposed to be a brief and concise summary of your page's content.

Aspects of a good Meta Description Tag:

* 140 Characters
* 25 to 30 Words
* 2 Sentences
* Mention of your Company Name or Branded Product
* Value Statement – highlight the primary benefits of what you are offering
* Call to Action – think of things like “free trial”, “download”, “subscribe”, “see statistics”, “submit”, etc

Meta tags

Seeing overall, Google is not considering the meta description or keywords but other search engines like yahoo and bing plays major role in meta description and keywords too.

Meta tags are very important not only for search engines but also well for users because for example search engine use your description tags as snippet to show on their search engine result page, keywords are categorizing that what is your website or blog’s niche.Meta tags are very important not only for search engines but also well for users because for example search engine use your description tags as snippet to show on their search engine result page, keywords are categorizing that what is your website or blog’s niche.
