I recently got a new computer second hand. It was formatted before i purchased it and i had to download the driver for the sound card to enable sound. Now i have tryed a dvd and it will not play. It says i need a dvd decoder.
Should there already be one preinstalled in my computer or is this a problem everyone faces when they buy a computer with a dvd drive?
Should i need to purchase a dvd decoder would anyone be able to recommend a good one?
I am using windows xp.
Any help appreciated.

Hi mate you need decoding software such as POWERDVD but for the price it costs on its own you would be better buying a new dvd player and fitting it in your computer, you see the dvd software comes free with the player and new players are about £30 you can pay that just for the software............
anyways its upto you but as a say a good software is powerdvd its good quality.
I don't think any more money needs to be spent.
here is a website for free codec packs
it's quite well known as DivX(a codec creator and provides free codec packs)
That is old thread and that was attacked by spamers so I need to close it
