Thats a gross simplification of the matter.
It depends what you want to use it for. Macs are a dream for DTP and the like but not really general user friendly. I run one of both so i can have the optimal for each situation.

well they do actually. osx and its for-runners are just flavours of linux. You can run windows and the like on a mac, but it requires OS to be installed.
NB: for the officinardo's (so i don't get flamed). i am aware that OS is rooted in Unix (as linux is) not linux itself, but its source is now more akin to linux than unix and as such can be described as such.

Well to keep it at an honest point of view, I have been using windows since windows 95, but I only got to use a mac with the leopard.
There is a world of difference between the two and I think that windows banks on familiarity with its users while the mac goes for sophistication and powerful core as their selling point.
What I like about the mac is that they do not come with topnotch components but they are good at what they are doing.
For the windows though, customer is king. The majority of the corporate sector runs windows so you can never go wrong with it.

for my personal preference, i choose windows. of course i have tried mac but since the familiarity with windows has already been rooted deep within me, i am stuck with windows. if i started with mac, then it would be otherwise.

Very well said. I agree. I am a Windows user for a very long time, since Windows 95. Because of that I am familiar with that OS and trying to use another OS, which in this case MAC, would take alot of time to get used to. I think that would most people say when they get to choose between the two.
