Question No Audio

Hi I need some help and advice, I,ve been trying to help a friend with her sound, she had been trying to install speakers to her system and cannot get any sound. she said that she gets a beep now and again from her pc but thats it. she bought her pc second hand and has got Windows Xp home edition. I looked at her audio and sound settings and it says No Audio Device, No Sound Device, No Voice Device and No Playback Device, but device manager says its all working properly, I then told her to go to accessories and to system information to find out her computer manufacturer, system name and system model, I also ask her to run the DXDIAG tool in the sound submenu to test her sound, but under the heading Device, she said was blanked out and the same for the Driver Device, does this mean she has no sound card? We have not opened her cpu yet to see if there is a sound card there, or if it could be an integrated sound, and I wouldnt have any idea what to look for, or could it just be that she needs to download the Drivers for it?
All the info i can give you is this
Technologies Inc....VT82c69 3/A.....X86 Based Pc.....sytem name CELERON 7001.
Please help.

I'm having the same problem with my PC, & have done a bit of digging about it, so I'll help as best I can...

It sounds like she just needs the drivers, (or updated versions of them), unless there's no Integrated Audio or Sound card at all?

My motherboard is a similar species I think ("ACPI-GENUINEINTEL_-_X86_FAMILY_6_MODEL_8\_0").

Whenever I try to play anything in media player I get video but no audio, & an error message pops up that says there is no Audio device.

Sounds & Audio devices had no device listed but on closer inspection I found "Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device".

So I'm in the process of finding the most recent drivers so I can try 'em out tonight after work...

Hope I've been of some assistance, as no-one else here seems to be, that's for sure!
