Another "No Audio Device" problem

I've been reading through these posts and none of them seem to be the same situation as mine. I bought a Dell (I know *gag* :P) computer for my parents. Everything worked fine, but now they are starting to have problems. One is if they have more than 3-4 windows open it says it doesn't have enough resources, the other problem is, the audio device stopped working. When I click on the sound in control panel it shows nothing. I don't know what type of card I have, I'd have to do a bit of research but its just a normal dell computer no real fancy stuff. I did upgrade to 1gig of memory so that's the only nice plus I did.

Any ideas for what I can do to fix this?
