Deciding on a domain name can be tricky. First you need to come up with something representative to your website and second, it needs to be available. If someone already has your domain name, you will either have to try to buy it from them or choose again. Therefore, I recommend that you come up with a few names before ever checking the availability.

Be creative and make a list of as many words as you can describing the content of your website.

Remember numbers and hyphens are acceptable.

Use shorter, memorable domain names that are harder to mispell.

Avoid the number zero, as it can easily be confused with the vowel "O".

There are a couple of good websites that have domain name suggestion tools. They will add a word to your domain and try to find available combinations.

I look for unique, catchy and descriptive and also hyphenated domain. And then register it.
