I don't understand your question? What do you mean exactly? Which one is better?

I would choose PHP as it is open source and more widely used than ASP. PHP is also a whole lot easier to use.

I started picking up ASP.NET before i learned PHP, only because i was an average Visual Basic programmer, and it allowed me to integrate my VB knowledge into the web applications.

And with the ASP Applica0tion program i used i was able to test the webpages right here on my PC.When i got ready to upload them to my webserver i quickly realized that my webserver was not ASP compatible.

So then i switched the PHP and have zoomed since then. Now that i think about it, i think the PHP may've been a little easier to learn that the ASP.NET

ASP is faster than PHP
PHP is secure
PHP hosting is based on Linix system that is free so its hosting is cheap
ASP hosting is based on Windows server so it is expensive.

ASP and PHP are both programming languages that are commonly used to create websites. Unlike the usual static html web pages, ASP and PHP websites are more dynamic and can allow users to interact and exchange information using the website's databases.

ASP is the short term for Active Server Pages, a type of program that works with Microsoft alongside IIS or Internet Information Server. ASP needs a Microsoft Server for the website to work. On the other, PHP or Hypertext Preprocessor, runs using Linux or Unix server. The more updated PHP programs can now run on an NT server.

PHP programs can also run in Windows, Solaris, Unix and Linux while ASP can only work with Window-based platforms. Just recently, ASP can now run on a Linux platform given that there is an ASP-Apache program installed on its server.

Here few points for advantage of php over asp:

1. Cost:
PHP is an open source software,PHP is free to download and use.

2.PHP supports many databases (MySQL, Informix, Oracle, Sybase, Solid, PostgreSQL, Generic ODBC, etc.)

3.Php is Platform independent .It supports windows, linux etc..

4. Resources:
Apache/PHP uses dramatically less resources than IIS/ASP - so you could get away with cheaper /older hardware. Works great with linux.

5. Robustness/Reliability:
Generally speaking Apache/PHP is significantly more stable than IIS/ASP, so you will have generally better uptime.
