Personally i have never tryed adwords myself since i am on a limited budget at this current stage. Instead i have invested all my time in learning how to optimize my website for the search engines and building up a good linking structure from other websites that recieve users that might be interested in my site.

If your budget is low i would first concentrate on getting your site listed in as many free directories as possible and then try experimenting with adwords and other forms of advertising.

Atleast with adwords you know your site is less likely to recieve fraudulent clickthrough as it is a good professional system.
